The area is the East entrance to the urban complex of the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The project involves a masterplan that includes the proposal of sustainable uses, the reuse and integration in the design of the listed “Allatini” pottery factory, the definition of green areas and the use of public spaces to restore the cohesion of the urban grid in this rapidly developing area.
The architectural proposal introduces urban syntactic elements and dimensions that are currently lacking in the urban fabric of the city of Thessaloniki as a whole. The vast green areas that follow the natural geomorphologic relief of the area as well as the wide arcs and curves that extend into the landscape forming the pedestrian paths are in stark contrast to the excessive fragmentation of structures and landscaping in the surrounding area. The various uses are interwoven across the site intensifying the sense of flow and fluidity within the space.
