Located on a verdant slope overlooking Hersonissos, built amphitheatrically in a unique natural landscape offering an unobstructed view of the Aegean Sea, KING MINOS RETREAT Resort & Spa is a member of the GOLDEN Hotels & Resorts group.  The existing hotel has been recently renovated and upgraded to a 5-star resort. The main design challenge was to highlight the architecture of the complex, creating a unique hospitality experience in an environment of discreet luxury.

The hotel unit includes 142 rooms and suites, wellness facilities, dining and recreation areas. The rooms are located in the main building and the bungalows, on staggered levels that allow the development of private "gardens" with private pools.

The use of local stone and materials and colors in earthy tones aim to integrate the complex into the natural environment. Wooden elements in front of the balconies create a new grid that contributes to shading and better energy behavior of the buildings.

Inside, the use of stone and marble is dominant in all common areas and rooms. Combined with elements of wood and metal, they compose an environment characterized by austerity and modern aesthetics with references to the local architecture of Crete
